ClientCvarValue — checking client cvars via MM

Engine (base): MetaMod:Source (C++). Installs without CounterStrikeSharp.

Software type: system extension / admin tool / anti-cheat module.

Purpose: provides an API for low-level querying and checking of any console variable (cvar) values directly on clients.

Author: komashchenko

ClientCvarValue is a specialized low-level system extension for Counter-Strike 2 servers that runs directly on MetaMod:Source. In CS2 some dishonest players use hidden engine console commands or rendering bugs (for example, to turn off flashbang blinding or change smoke opacity). This tool lets the server fully control players' settings to keep the game fair.

🚀 Key features:

Direct client queries: the extension intercepts network packets so the server can send low-level queries and instantly learn the real cvar values set in a player's console.

Fundamental API: acts as the base core for third-party C++ plugins and server anti-cheats that need to strictly control user configs (for example, checking cl_interp, network settings or forbidden visual commands).

Optimization: written in pure C++ without extra scripting layers, so querying every player on a full server causes no lag and doesn't drop the server tickrate.

🧱 Important dependencies:

The extension needs MetaMod itself:

➔ MetaMod:Source (a fresh Master dev branch is recommended) — https://www.metamodsource.net/downloads.php?branch=master

🛠️ Installation and setup:

1. Make sure your server has a current, working MetaMod installed.

2. Open the Releases section of the official repository on GitHub and download the archive for your hosting's operating system (Linux or Windows).

3. Unpack the archive and move the files to the game server at:

game/csgo/

4. Make sure the extension files (ClientCvarValue.so for Linux or ClientCvarValue.dll for Windows) are exactly at:

game/csgo/addons/ClientCvarValue/

5. Start or restart the game server so the plugin initializes and generates its config file structure.

6. Query and request logging settings are configured in the config files that appear in:

game/csgo/cfg/ClientCvarValue/

7. Fully restart the server once more to apply all changes.
